For more than 40 years, Kemin has provided high-quality carotenoid products – often referred to as pigments to the layer industry. With the introduction of Organic ORO GLO® to the market, organic egg producers can now offer consumers the same benefits and value found in non-organic eggs. Organic KEM GLO™, a source of orange/red pigment from organically grown paprika, improves egg yolk color. Kemin also offers Organic ORO GLO, a source of yellow pigment that enhances yolk color and increases lutein content.
Organic KEM GLO sets a new standard compared to raw paprika pepper. The raw paprika is tested for xanthophyll levels when it arrives at the Kemin manufacturing facility in Des Moines, Iowa, and is tested yet again before mixing with organic kelp during manufacturing. Finally, before going into the bag, the finished Organic KEM GLO product is tested to ensure it meets the guaranteed xanthophyll levels, resulting in consistent formulations that are not possible when using raw paprika pepper.
Organic KEM GLO™ is made from organically-produced paprika. This paprika is manufactured to the United States Department of Agriculture's National Organic Program (USDA NOP) standards and can be used in organic poultry feed. Combining Organic KEM GLO with Organic ORO GLO will achieve the darker egg yolk color desired.
Through its Customer Laboratory Services (CLS), Kemin offers customers a complimentary validation to test color and lutein values in egg yolks. CLS analyzes organic and non-organic feed ingredients to compare the consistency of lutein and color levels to the customer's carotenoid specification.
