A "forward thinking toxin binder” powered with synthetic tectosilicates (STS) technology to reduce fungal and chemical toxicosis. The Kemin patent-pending material has stronger, faster and improved capabilities to bind to multiple mycotoxins and select pesticides with proven efficacy in in vitro and in vivo trials.
Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by fungi or moulds that display widely varying toxic properties (carcinogenic, immunosuppressive, hepatotoxic, nephrotoxic, neurotoxic, etc.) in humans and animals. As mycotoxins contaminate almost all agricultural ingredients, the risk of they entering the feed chain is almost unavoidable, consequently affecting poultry health and performance. For example, the presence of T-2 in broiler feed is causing specific damage to epithelial cells, manifesting in beak and intestinal tract lesions.
To partner with customers and to help maintain their feed quality and safety, Kemin created Customer Laboratory Services (CLS). CLS is translating customer needs into innovative tools: routine mycotoxin screening is one amongst them. During screening of thousands of feed and raw materials, low-level contamination is very common. In fact, mycotoxin co-contamination is the rule rather than the exception. Some mycotoxins can be present in masked form, so it is difficult to detect with routine methods of analysis. As a result, these undetected toxins can be released in the intestinal tract, putting the poultry at risk.
Therefore, in addition to preventative measures, by using the right mycotoxin adsorbent you can protect your business and poultry from the negative effects of mycotoxins. As this approach is rather inexpensive, and products can be easily incorporated in the animal’s diet, use of mycotoxin binder as part of mycotoxin control strategy in poultry is a common practice.
The guidelines for selecting a good mycotoxin binder to comply with specific criteria include:
Proven binding efficacy in vitro and in vivo.
· Bind exclusively to mycotoxins and specific pesticides, and not to nutrients or vitamins
· Not a standard clay, but nano porous synthetic material
· Next generation mycotoxin binder developed with a novel in vitro model
· Elimination of mycotoxins that has been proven through metabolic studies
· Free from heavy minerals and Dioxin
