Aleta™

Pre-emptive Action is The Best Protection

Farm conditions often expose animals to stress, which can lead to poor performance and susceptibility to disease. Instead of relying on a reactive solution for stressful situations, you can take a more proactive approach to animal health with Aleta™. Aleta™ is a proactive solution for intestinal health and stress management that maintains animal performance.

Aleta™ Improves Immune Response

Aleta™ is a highly bioavailable immunomodulator offering a high and consistent concentration of Beta 1,3 Glucan to improve immunity and animal performance. Aleta provides a consistent ROI in situations of disease and stress — especially situations typically addressed with antibiotics.

Aleta™ Advantages:

  • Aids in improving the immune response of production animals
  • Aids in maintaining the health of production animals
  • Aids in relieving the stress of production animals
  • Increases production performance parameters
    • Feed conversion ratio
    • Bodyweight
    • Reduction in mortality
  • Can be used in diets where the presence of antibiotics is of concern

Immune Modulation

Nonspecific Immune Modulation for Animal Health

Nonspecific immune modulation helps to heighten immunologic capabilities at a time when an ani mal may be exposed to one or more pathogens and/or be compromised immunologically.

Aleta™ from Algae

Unlike yeast products – which contain only 5-15 percent Beta Glucan and require extraction from an indigestible cell wall – Aleta™ is produced from a unique alga (Euglena gracilis) containing more than 50 percent Beta Glucan. These algal cells are highly digestible, making Aleta™’s Beta Glucan bioavailable without extraction.

Aleta™ is a new source of Beta 1,3 Glucan derived from a unique species of microalgae. Beta 1,3 Glucan is a chain of glucose molecules connected by Beta-Glycosidic bonds between #1 and #3 carbons.

How Algae Beta Glucan Works

Aleta™ has a clear mode of action at the molecular level of the active ingredient. In contrast, the many different components of competitive products make their modes of action less clear.

  1. Algal beta-glucan goes into the small intestine
  2. Macrophages + dendritic cells ingest beta-glucan
  3. Beta-glucan granule digested, and fragments released
  4. Immune system activated
    • Enhance phagocytosis of other foreign particles
    • Modulates cytokine/chemokine production (signalling molecules)
    • Activates Natural killer cells, T cells and B cells
    • Recruits immune cells to the intestinal lining
  5. Injection of pure beta-glucan shows systemic immune system activation

Heat Stability

Heat treatment of Aleta™ by autoclaving at 121°C/15 PSI and 135°C/30 PSI for 30 minutes has very little effect on the Beta-(1,3)-Glucan granule that comprises about 50 percent of the product by weight. The granule appears unchanged by microscopic observation and is efficiently phagocytosed by macrophages and dendritic cells. This study showed that heat and pressure had very little effect on the biological activity of Aleta™. Product was efficiently phagocytosed by macrophages and dendritic cells even after extremely harsh treatments by heat and pressure. This would suggest that Aleta™ is robust enough to go through processing treatments and still remain efficacious.

Effects of Dietary Aleta™ on Newcastle Virus Vaccine Titers

  • 50 birds/pen, 4 pens/treatment group, Aleta™ dose was 100 g/MT in the starter, grower and finisher feeds
  • Birds have given ND (C2) and IB (GA98) vaccine by eye drop on day 0 and booster on day 21
  • Serum was collected from 30 birds/pen on day 7, 21 and 42 and titers were measured by ELISA
  • Birds receiving vaccine + Aleta™ had a significant increase in titer levels and lower coefficient of variation on day 21 vs vaccine alone
