The Inspiration Behind the Series
The idea for “Just for K.I.C.K.S.” was sparked by a simple but powerful moment. After a small internal presentation on nutrition and gut health, a colleague expressed how valuable that information would have been for them too. That feedback inspired a bigger vision: creating a space where anyone at Kemin can learn more about what we do, why it matters, and how our work connects across departments, industries, and even everyday life.
Even longtime team members sometimes find it challenging to explain the full scope of what Kemin does. This series aims to help everyone — regardless of role — feel more equipped to answer that question with confidence and clarity.
A Look at the First Talks
The first “Just for K.I.C.K.S.” session, led by Dr. Susanne Kirwin, explored the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance. She shared how Kemin is addressing this issue by developing innovative alternatives to antibiotics — demonstrating our commitment to protecting both animal health and global food systems. It was a powerful example of how the work happening inside Kemin can have far-reaching effects.
Following that, Dr. Brenda Fonseca will present on her Ph.D. research focused on lutein, screen time, and its impact on eye and brain health in teen and preteen children. Her session will connect the dots between nutritional science, human health, and the kinds of real-world outcomes that Kemin’s research helps support — reinforcing how our work contributes to healthier lives across all ages.
Connecting Through Conversations
This ongoing talk series is designed to bring our global Kemin community closer together through learning. Specialists from a variety of backgrounds — from R&D Scientists and Engineers to Technical Sales Managers and Legal experts — will lead conversations about their work, key projects, and how their expertise connects to both Kemin’s mission and the world beyond our walls.
Whether hosted at our Des Moines campus or one of our global facilities, we ensure these talks will be available to every team member so they have the opportunity to engage, learn, and grow — no matter where they are.
Why It Matters
