The world has transformed since R.W. and Mary Nelson founded Kemin in 1961. Our company has also transformed in innumerable ways—our services, technologies, markets, facilities and even our company name have evolved and grown.
In 2022, we are celebrating 61 Years of Kemin Since 1961 by highlighting many of the people, innovations, communities, discoveries, initiatives and milestones behind our story—61 years in the making.
From the old wool barn where R.W. mixed his first product in a Maytag® washer and the family home where his wife, Mary, kept the books for the business, a multinational manufacturer emerged, producing more than 500 specialty ingredients, spanning six continents and employing thousands of team members serving more than 120 countries.
While Kemin has transformed products and practices to meet the ever-changing needs of the world, the core beliefs that shaped our company remain our foundation today.
Today, Kemin strives to sustainably transform the quality of life every day for 80% of the world with our products and services. As originators of countless ingredients that improve the health and lives of humans, pets, production animals and plants, we are focused on expanding our global reach to impact more lives—and we’re not done. We’ll continue to explore, discover, innovate and grow, every day, to cultivate a better tomorrow.
Advancing science, expanding to six continents, creating community around the globe—Kemin has done a lot in just over six decades. Follow the timeline to see just how far we’ve come since 1961.
