The 0-day PHI miticide for all organic CULTIVATED crops

TetraCURB™ Organic is a new tool available to farmers who seek a pesticide derived from natural sources to control and prevent pests and produce healthy, organically and sustainably-grown crops.

TetraCURB™ Organic is a new OMRI listed® contact miticide and repellent for Organic farming

TetraCURB Organic is an OMRI listed® contact miticide and repellent that provides effective mite control for a wide range of specialty crops with a zero-day Pre-Harvest Interval. With a high concentration of active ingredients formulated with a unique blend of botanical oils, TetraCURB Organic is a new natural option for organic farmers to help manage mite pressure throughout the cropping season.

As a leader in the ingredient manufacturing industry for human and animal health and nutrition, Kemin has identified and cultivated plants, especially rosemary, that naturally produce molecules with high phytochemical actives and functional benefits. From these cultivated plants, Kemin Crop Technologies discovered new efficacy and applications for the horticulture market. By being one of the most vertically integrated suppliers of rosemary-based ingredients, Kemin ensures that every batch of product is consistent and free from contaminants. Customers can expect consistent efficacy every time they purchase Kemin products. Kemin follows rigorous Quality Control (QC) Testing. Our raw materials are reviewed for quality parameters, ensuring the active ingredients are present and have efficacy and all products that leave our facilities meet our QC criteria. Because of the high quality control standards at Kemin, the proprietary blend of active ingredients in TetraCURB Organic have proven efficacy in controlling spider mites, and a fast-acting miticide with a consistent performance each time. .

TetraCURB Organic is a natural pesticide product with plant-based ingredients accepted for use in organic production. TetraCURB Organic is formulated with more than fifty percent of food-grade horticultural oils.

TetraCURB Organic controls Spider mites.

For commercial use on a broad range of high value and specialty crops, including non-food and food crops, indoor and outdoor production systems.

Mode of Action

TetraCURB Organic, a contact miticide and repellent, provides an effective control and rapid knockdown of mite populations in the nymph and adult stages of the life cycle.

TetraCURB Organic uses multiple modes of action for complete pest control:

  • Repellence effect: Rosemary oil is well known to have a strong repellent property. Because of rosemary oil’s volatility, even mites that are not in contact with TetraCURB Organic will be alarmed by vapor exposure. Avoidance behavior will kick in, and the mites will rapidly mobilize to leave the treated plants. This volatile rosemary-oil blend also helps TetraCURB Organic protect crops from the pest population establishment.
  • Suffocation: TetraCURB Organic’s highly concentrated oil blend suffocates pests by blocking air from entering their spiracles, which prevents them from breathing.
  • Paralysis: When TetraCURB Organic is used, the key components in its botanical oil blend act on pests’ octopamine receptors and acetylcholinesterase, the neural control modulators in their nervous systems. When TetraCURB Organic affects these neurotransmitters, it’s capable of overstimulating and disrupting the pest’s nervous system, leading to paralysis.

Application rates

  • Preventative to low infestation: Lower rate of 32 fl. oz. /100 gallons of water
  • Moderate to heavy infestation: Higher rate of 64 - 256 fl. oz. /100 gallons of water. Apply in shorter spray intervals to maintain the desired level of control.

TetraCURB Organic has no restriction and limitation on the product dosage per acre, per crop growing cycle.

Application timing

  • Apply when mites first appear and before the economic threshold is reached
  • Apply in early morning or late afternoon when the temperature is below 90 oF
  • Make sequential application at 5-7 days after the first application.

TetraCURB Organic has no restriction and limitation on the number of applications per crop growing cycle per year, on the number of consecutive applications before rotating to a chemical with different modes of action.

Mixing instructions

Shake well before using. TetraCURB Organic is a liquid emulsifiable concentrate and must be diluted with water before using. Use dilution immediately. Do not store diluted solution.

Before mixing and applying TetraCURB Organic, thoroughly clean the tank and spray equipment. Spray boom and all nozzles. For best results:

  1. Fill half of a clean tank with clean water and start tank agitation system
  2. Add the appropriate dosage of TetraCURB Organic to tank, while continuing constant agitation
  3. Fill the tank with the remaining amount of needed water
  4. Mix to obtain a homogenous mixture. Maintain agitation until solution is used.

To maximize uniformity of coverage and enhance performance under certain conditions, we recommend using an approved spray adjuvant. The addition of specific adjuvant may cause phytotoxicity. Always check compatibility of any adjuvant used before use. Follow the directions for use on each adjuvant product label for rates of use and use restrictions.

Compatibility of spray mixture (Tank Mixes): Limited compatibility testing has been conducted for TetraCURB Organic with other commonly used chemistries. As such, tank mixing or use of TetraCURB Organic with any other product shall be the exclusive risk and responsibility of the user. If you plan to mix TetraCURB Organic with other products, always check the physical compatibility first by performing a compatibility test. Test the mixture on a small scale before making large-scale applications. Consult specific product labels for additional information.

Application directions

Use TetraCURB Organic as a foliar spray. Spray the mixture thoroughly to the top and the underside surfaces of all leaves to ensure complete and uniform coverage until runoff.  Apply TetraCURB using spray equipment such as, but not limited to, high volume sprayers, booms and hydraulic-air assist equipment. Do not apply this product through any type of irrigation or chemigation system.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): When mixing, applying or handling the product, wear required appropriate PPE, which includes but is not limited to safety glasses, a long-sleeved shirt, pants, protective footwear and chemical-resistant gloves.

Due to the ever-changing varieties of plants, testing on all plants and crop varieties is not feasible. To ensure that TetraCURB Organic is compatible with the array of cultivars under your specific conditions, test the product on a small scale and observing for phytotoxicity before making large-scale applications. Do not apply to plants or crops when the temperature is 90º F or above.

There is no observable phytotoxic damage in plants sprayed with TetraCURB Organic.

We performed a bioassay to understand the efficacy of TetraCURB when used at 1% treatment rates. The results show an 80% mortality rate, and a higher mortality rate when combined with an approved wetting agent.
