KALLSIL® Dry

Reducing the Impact of Fungal Metabolites on Performance

KALLSIL® is an enhanced zeolite-based mineral that supports performance by reducing the harmful effects of naturally-occurring fungal metabolites found in livestock and poultry feeds. By absorbing moisture from feed, KALLSIL also reduces caking, resulting in improved flow in feed and feed ingredients. Published research has demonstrated mold inhibitors used with anti-caking aids, including zeolite clay, can reduce the negative effects of molds and mycotoxins contamination on animal performance.

Features and Benefits

  • Composed of natural, zeolite aluminosilicate mineral clay
  • Broad-spectrum fungal metabolite control to improve feed quality
  • Minimizes animal performance problems due to molds and mycotoxins
  • Minimal binding of vitamins and minerals in feed
  • Absorbs moisture in feed and feed ingredients
  • Reduces caking caused by mold growth
  • Improves flowability of feed ingredients and complete feeds
  • Designed for use in swine, cattle, dairy and poultry

KALLSIL – Active Ingredients

The primary active ingredient in KALLSIL is zeolite – a hydrated sodium calcium aluminosilicate mineral. During the development of KALLSIL, numerous zeolites and additives were screened to identify a formulation with broad-spectrum fungal metabolite control to improve feed quality. After processing, blending and packaging, the resulting KALLSIL mixture has demonstrated efficacy in reducing performance losses associated with common fungal metabolites in livestock and poultry operations.

Zeolite Mode of Action

The main mineral in zeolite (clinoptilolite) has an infinite three-dimensional, crystal structure framework with a large surface area and high moisture absorption capacity. This framework of channels and pores attracts and traps small polar molecules. Once sequestered, absorption of harmful fungal metabolites by the gastrointestinal tract is reduced, thereby avoiding negative effects on animal performance. The framework structure of zeolite is highly resistant to both heat and pH, which maximizes binding efficiency. Research has shown that zeolite can bind ammonia1 and harmful metabolites produced by certain mold species.2

KALLSIL – Improving Efficiency of Feed Manufacturing

Moisture in feed can promote mold growth and reduce feed flowability, resulting in decreased manufacturing efficiency and reduced feed quality. By absorbing moisture, KALLSIL helps to prevent caking in feed, which limits material doming, bridging and hanging to the side of the bins or feeders. This resulting improvement in flowability of feed and feed ingredients can help producers increase their feed manufacturing efficiency. KALLSIL may also help manage mold growth by lowering moisture in feed. KALLSIL is a safe, non-nutritive carrier and can be included up to 2% in complete feeds.

Suggested Feeding Rates

  • Swine and poultry: 2-12 lbs. per ton of feed
  • Beef and dairy: 1-6 oz. per head per day

Product Specifications

KALLSIL is sold in 25 kg bags and 1,000 kg totes. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight for a maximum shelf-life.
