A number of synthetic antioxidants – including Tertiary butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), Propyl Gallate (PG) and Ethoxyquin (EQ) – are used to provide oxidative stability to ingredients used in the rendering and petfood industry. While these antioxidants are capable of effectively controlling the autoxidative process, Kemin scientists recognize that these antioxidants react differently depending on the process and the substrate that is being stabilized.
To provide maximum protection from oxidation, Kemin offers a dynamic line of liquid synthetic antioxidants under the brand name RENDOX. Specifically formulated to stabilize animal fats and protein meals, RENDOX antioxidants help maintain product freshness, protect product quality, as well as increased product shelf-life and customer satisfaction.
RENDOX offers the following benefits:
The ideal antioxidant must be able to easily mix with the fat it's designed to protect, that is why RENDOX is manufactured with an oil-based carrier so its physical characteristics better correlate with those of fat. Adding a RENDOX liquid antioxidant to fat at the feed mill can be as easy as flipping a switch. The antioxidant can be directly injected into the line as fat is being pumped into the storage tank. This technique guarantees a more consistent dispersion.
