Europe LYSOFORTE® Lipid Evaluation Test

Nowadays due to the wide variety of lipid sources it is important to use the proper energy value of fat and oils in feed formulations. Research has shown a large variability between the same fat sources from different suppliers.

Variations between low and high energy value within one oil category can be significant (top and bottom oil drop in the graph).

Challenge for every nutritionist: which energy value should be used in feed formulations?

Lipid Evaluation Test (LET)

The LET is a tool for better assessment of the oxidative quality and nutritional value of fats and oils commonly used in feed for monogastric animals.

The LET is based on the application of analytical data (FFA, U/S ratio) through the Wiseman equation, and subsequent calculation of AMEn (poultry) and DE (pigs) including the diluting factors (MIU).

Why use LET?

  • Evaluation of the oxidative status gives indications of fat/oil stability and quality
  • Fatty Acids profile of lipids allows to identifyidentifying the fat source. The Fatty Acids profile is the identity card of fats and oils
  • In depth knowledge of non lipid components allows to estimate the diluting factors
  • Provides real energy value that allows to formulate feed precisely without animal trials
  • One fat/oil sample - full analysis with all parameters in one report

When to use LET?

  • Characterize new fat and oil sources
  • To check your current oil/fat on exact nutritional value and oxidative status
  • To increase feed formulation precision
  • To  check  how the  oil energy  value can influence the efficiency and the cost of your feed, ask your Kemin representative about the LYSOFORTE® benefit calculator
