Europe CLOSTAT® and Farm Tools
It is important to observe daily the droppings around the drinkers to be consistent. If changes are observed, call your veterinarian for expert advice.
Avian Droppings reveal important information for the poultry producer and are a good indicator for the health status of the bird. Experience is necessary in order to monitor the health of the flock through daily observations on fecal and cecal dropping changes.
Daily Disease Prevention
Close scrutiny of the droppings on a daily basis is the best available method to prevent disease. This monitoring system allows the producer to identify the very first signs of an altered health balance. Taking an action at an early stage, promotes the control of disorders before they have time to become a problem.
There are different types of abnormal droppings:
- Green (NDV, AI)
- White (IBD, BWD)
- Yellow (Parvovirus, Fowl Cholera, Spirochetosis)
- With Orange mucus/sloughed mucosa (Coccidiosis, Necrotic enteritis, Reovirus)
- Caramel or foamy (Necrotic enteritis)
- Red / Bloody (Coccidiosis- Eimeria tenella-, Campylobacteriosis
What to look for:
- Increased size or volume
- Loss of firmness / consistency
- Becomes oily, bulky
- Changes in color
- Presence of undigested feed
- Changes in smell
Any of these changes can be caused by stress, certain feed, or can be a sign of disease.
