Kemin Receives Patent for New Ethoxyquin-Free Antioxidant Formulation

Kemin Receives Patent for New Ethoxyquin-Free Antioxidant Formulation

Paradigmox™ solution confirms company’s dedication to antioxidant protection

HERENTALS, Belgium (September 25, 2017) – Kemin Industries, a global nutritional ingredient company that uses science to touch 3.8 billion people every day with its products and services, was granted a patent for its antioxidant formulation technology which is the basis for the Paradigmox™ antioxidant brand.

“With the partial suspension of ethoxyquin in European markets, our patent for ethoxyquin-free antioxidant formulation technology is a clear demonstration of the company’s commitment to anticipating trends and innovating valuable solutions for the global feed industry,” said Tom Verleyen, Marketing Director for Animal Nutrition and Health, EMEA.

Paradigmox, which uses the novel antioxidant formulation technology, has been available to animal feed for several years. The flagship solution provides equal efficacy to ethoxyquin in diverse feed applications.

“Over the past few months, we’ve been proactively transitioning customers to Paradigmox. It is a clear solution for feed industry professionals who are impacted by the changing regulation and understand the negative impacts that lipid oxidation can have on animal performance,” said Nicola Tallarico, Product Manager for Animal Nutrition and Health, EMEA.

Beyond the ethoxyquin-free benefits, the patented antioxidant formulation technology offers improved stability and efficacy in unsaturated vegetable oils, which have become increasingly common in feed formulation. Using a ternary solvent combination, the technology formulates antioxidants with different polarities into a single liquid blend that is perfectly oil soluble.

“As the market has shifted toward using more unsaturated vegetable oils in feed, there have been stability and efficacy issues for traditional antioxidant blends. Because of this challenge, ensuring compatibility and efficacy in oil solutions was a key driver for our antioxidant research and development teams,” said Verleyen.

To ensure the efficacy of antioxidant solutions in effectively stabilizing all feed ingredients and formulated compound feeds, Kemin offers in-depth technical service expertise and tailored laboratory support.
