Sustainability at Kemin
Kemin has invested millions of dollars to develop a sustainable agronomic approach to growing scientifically advanced rosemary and spearmint. We are proud to be the first company in the world to certify rosemary to the Sustainably Grown standard. This rigorous agricultural sustainability standard was developed by the third-party certification body, SCS Global Services. After stringent audits, 100% of our rosemary and spearmint crop production have been certified Sustainably Grown.
This certification standard supports long-term sustainable agricultural production by identifying crops grown in accordance with exceptional environmental and social responsibility as well as quality and safety requirements. This certification signifies that Kemin is able to provide natural rosemary and spearmint extract-based ingredients to customers who wish to have the highest level of sustainable agricultural practices validated and recognized by consumers.
Dedicated to sustainable and environmental farming practices, Kemin contracts with family farmers in Texas, New Mexico, and Indiana to grow its proprietary rosemary and spearmint crops. Our botanical manufacturing facilities clean the air of carbon dioxide, emit oxygen and produce waste matter that returns nutrients to the soil. This partnership not only increases the quality and quantity of crops but improves farming practices, promotes healthy working conditions and builds community relations.
Multi-Generation, Sustainable Partnership
The Kemin Vision
Improving health, feeding a growing population, protecting our resources, and being a resource for others in need . . . these comprise our purpose. They’re our passion. They’re what move us forward and drive us constantly to do more. They’re about touching lives and improving life.
And as we see our world continue to change and grow, we continue to change, to foster new ways of thinking, to redefine our focus, and to expand our reach.
These are our stories: stories of partnership, innovation, growth, new discovery, and, most importantly, of lives changed.
