Kemin regional headquarters in Herentals, Belgium supports the Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) region and was our first international subsidiary, formed in 1970. Kemin has been selling products to distributors in the United Kingdom, Holland and Spain since about 1965, just four years after the company was founded in the U.S. The growing amount of product being exported to Europe from Kemin U.S. headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa, quickly necessitated establishing European operations with manufacturing, research, sales and day-to-day administration.
 

Kemin has expanded twice in Belgium since 1970. The first expansion was in 1990 with the addition of a finished goods warehouse across the street from the administration building and manufacturing facility.  The second expansion was completed in 2011, adding a new innovation and technology center with 1,700 square meters of state-of-the-art research facilities.
 

In addition to our facilities in Belgium, the human nutrition and health division has an office in Lisbon, Portugal. In 2010, Kemin acquired an encapsulated technology manufacturer in Cavriago, Italy, and opened a state-of-the-art palatant manufacturing facility in Veronella, Italy. Kemin also operates a manufacturing facility in South Africa.
