Rosamox
Rosamox™, by the personal care division, is a natural antioxidant from Kemin’s proprietary rosemary. Rosamox is extracted using supercritical CO2, which is a solvent-free, green chemistry, sustainable process that meets today’s corporate initiatives to improve the environmental impact. As a natural replacement to BHT and a natural alternative to Mixed Tocopherols & Vitamin E, Rosamox prevents oxidative degradation of oils, reducing off appearance and odor.
INCI: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil (and) Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract

Application Rate
The application rate of Rosamox is at a minimum of 0.1% and recommended at 0.3-0.5%. The application rate is dependent upon oil content, other ingredients added and the desired shelf life of your formulation. Rosamox is low in color and odor, resulting in little impact to your final formulation.
Personal Care Applications
Typical applications for Rosamox may include: skin care creams and lotions, lip moisturizers, sun care lotions, hair care, soaps, and baby care.

Efficacy Testing
Rosamox has been tested in various personal care oils using oxidative stability index (OSI).Oils include:
| • palm | • sunflower |
| • olive | • safflower |
| • argan | • avocado |
| • squalene |
• sunflower |
In the OSI test, Rosamox was compared to butylated hydroxtoluene (BHT), a synthetic antioxidant, and Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate), a natural antioxidant. Rosamox proved to be an efficacious alternative to both BHT & Vitamin E.
The efficacy of Rosamox has also been evaluated in a standard cream formulation using peroxide value (PV) testing.
These results also indicate that Rosamox inhibits the generation of peroxides in a cream incubated at 50°C for approximately two months.
Safety Testing
The BCOP score for Rosamox was 0.80, which is considered to be a non-irritant.
The skin tolerance of Rosamox has been clinically evaluated by Human Repeat Insult Patch Test (HRIPT). Results indicate that Rosamox, when tested at 10x the standard 0.5% inclusion rate, is a non-irritant.
