Kemin hosts 4th Annual Poultry Summit
The Poultry Summit was held in conjunction with the 2010 International Poultry Expo/Feed Expo

ATLANTA, Ga. – January 26, 2010 – Industry experts discussed pre-harvest pathogen reduction strategies and regulations at Kemin Industries 4th Annual Poultry Summit held today at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Speakers, Dan Rollins and Alling Yancy, D.V.M., discussed Salmonella control and the expected Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) regulatory challenges in the coming year.

“As technology continues to advance, we must diligently re-evaluate the most effective methods for producing safe feed and food,” said Jeff Murphy, president of Kemin Agrifoods North America.  “The speakers today shared pertinent information for maximizing Salmonella control and operating ahead of new regulations.”

Dan Rollins is the director of feed production for Aviagen Incorporated U.S.A where he provides technical support in the areas of feed milling, feed bio-security and feed transportation.  With over 39 years of experience in the integrated poultry industry, Rollins has experience in all phases of feed mill design, production management, process control and construction.  He was the 2003 recipient of the Food Safety Award presented by the American Feed Association for designing the first feed mill in the United States to produce “pathogen free feed” for poultry.

Alling Yancy, D.V.M., is the vice president of food safety and production programs for the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association where he provides Association members with technical guidance and practical assistance regarding regulations, policies and programs related to food safety and production in the poultry and egg industries.  Prior to joining the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association, he served as a USDA-FSIS Inspector-In-Charge in a chick processing establishment and as a supervisory veterinary medical officer in the Atlanta district office.
