Recently Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea (CDAD) has been blamed on an emerging, lethal strain of Clostridium difficile.
- Antibiotic associated diarrhea (AAD), CDAD often stems from antibiotics-related pathogen overgrowth in the gastrointestinal tract.
- Travel, stress and other factors can disrupt good digestive and gastrointestinal health.
- Deadly hospital outbreaks of Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea (CDAD) have been tied to this emerging strain of Clostridium difficile.
In response, Kemin has developed a proprietary product, Bacillus subtilis Strain PB6.
Bacillus subtilis Strain PB6, when marketed as a safe probiotic under the brand name Anaban:
- Intended to promote the growth and activity of health-stimulating bacteria in the intestinal tract.
- Improves gastrointestinal and digestive health issues that may be associated with antibiotic usage, travel and stress.
- At a higher dosage, Bacillus subtilis Strain PB6 is intended for market under the brand name Inflammaban.
Inflammaban is currently under research and development for indications that include:
- Ulcerative colitis
- Crohn's disease
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- AAD
- CDAD
