Petfood Antioxidants

A stability assurance program to control oxidation is important for the production of quality pet food. There is no way to prevent or eliminate the light temperature changes, exposure to air or water, metal ions or other factors that contribute to the oxidation process in pet diets.

You cannot stop the oxidation process - but you can slow it down or control it with a well-managed stability assurance program using KEMIN^®brand products.

NaturalKemin researchers are leading the way in developing natural antioxidant formulations that provide premier freshness protection and meet current consumer health expectations for their pets.

The key to the successful use of natural antioxidants in pet foods is achieving an adequate residual level of the antioxidant in the finished diet. Diets with increased fat content require a higher residual level of antioxidant in the finished product.

Synthetic Numerous antioxidants used in the production of pet food, including BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole), BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene), ethoxyquin and propyl gallate. All of these antioxidants do an effective job of controlling the free radical chain reaction associated with the autoxidation process.
