Dr. Katrin Mahlkow-Nerge finished vocational education in Agronomy. She graduated in 1990 from the Universiy of Humboldt Berlin, Animal production in Germany. Dr. Mahlkow-Nerge built up some extensive experience from 1990 till 1999 as Research Associate at the Forschungszentrum für Tierproduktion Dummerstorf, Institut für Tierernährung Oskar Kellner in Rostock in Germany and later as Research Associate at Landesforschungsanstalt Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Dummerstorf in Germany: with a special focus on feed evaluation, estimation of feeding value and forage conservation. In 1999 Dr. Mahlkow-Nerge received her PhD in Animal Nutrition at University of Rostock, Germany. Since 1999 she acts as Advisor for ruminant nutrition at the Chamber for Agriculture Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. Thus responsible for trials with dairy cattle, consulting and publishing about feeding concepts, health management and husbandry of dairy cattle. As a „sideline” (in weekends) Dr. Katrin Mahlkow-Nerge is practising as a farmer at the farm of her partner in life.
