As one of the most romantic cities in the world, Zhuhai is situated in the southern part of Guangdong Province, China, with a sheltered location on the South Climates with glorious sunshine all year long. Zhuhai is a well-known garden-like coast city connecting with Hongkong by water in the east and bordering on Macao in the south. The land area covers 1,653 square kilometres and sea area, 6,000 square kilometres, including 146 islands. Zhuhai has been empowered with the local legislation by the National People's Congress. It governs three administrative districts and five economic functional zones. The city's population total 1.5 million.

As one of the earliest Special Economic Zones in China, Zhuhai is one of the hot spots for foreign investment. By the end of 2002, investors from 52 countries or regions had invested in Zhuhai, with 7,303 direct foreign investment projects. Now Zhuhai has established trade relationships with 140 countries and regions. Based on the international and domestic development trend and Zhuhai's actual situation, Zhuhai Municipal Party Committee and Government constructed the platform of invigorating Zhuhai by industrialization, science, education and eco-environment。 Zhuhai has been built into a modern, rich and civilized regional central city with a beautiful environment, booming economy and good social orders.

Zhuhai has been appraised as "One of the 40 top Tourism Attractions in China". In 1998, Zhuhai was honored with "The International Award for Most Improved Living Environment" by the United Nations. Thus through the efforts of city planners and enlightened government, Zhuhai has become internationally famous as one of the "Most Livable Places for People" in the entire world.
