Overall Function: The incumbent is responsible for the innovation, feasibility determination, and development of high-risk projects. Job Responsibilities:- Focus and prioritize projects and assume responsibility for their success; lead two to three projects in compliance with the Product Innovation Process
- Work closely with other R&D Scientists to ensure that new technologies are developed in an efficient and timely fashion
- Actively participate in identifying research areas that could lead to the development of new products
- Interact with customers to address technical or regulatory questions and provide solutions to problems regarding Kemin
- Write research proposals and solicit external funding
- Write, review, and approve various professional documents, for both internal and external use
Qualifications & Experience: - M.S. in chemistry or comparable chemistry field with 1-3 years experience (SRA2) or B.S. in chemistry with up to 3-5 years experience (SRA1-2)
- M.S. with experience strongly preferred
- 3-5 years of broad experience and expertise in chemistry, biochemistry, and organic chemistry
- 2-3 years of experience in an industrial setting is strongly desired
- Proven track record of accomplishments; accomplishments in commercialization by taking products based on new technologies to market successfully is desired, but not required
- Experience as an effective project team player
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and motivated by accomplishment
Skills Required:- Strong written and oral communication skills with a minimal English proficiency level of Intermediate Mid as defined in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
- Strong experimental design and problem solving skills
- Ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with all levels of management within a team environment on a variety of programs and projects
- Ability to work independently
- Effective at time management
- Project planning skills and development of project timelines
- Advanced computer knowledge
- Ability to work in a changing environment
