Overall Function: The Regulatory Affairs Associate provides support for product formulations, labels, specification sheets, literature, regulatory inspections and external audits. Major Responsibilities:- Manage and maintain a large number of confidential product formulations and other key information in MOVEX ERP system.
- Create and maintain product labels, product specification sheets, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Prepare and issue intercompany correspondence regarding KANA’s formulation and RA documentation changes.
- Prepare and maintain documentation necessary for the transportation classification of KANA’s products.
- Organize and maintain RA documentation and collaterals in appropriate databases.
- Assist with KANA’s label system and work closely with Operations staff in label room.
- Prepare and send required documentation in response to customer inquiries.
- Develop and write a broad range of documents, SOP’s, and memoranda.
- Prepare documentation to be used for various KANA product registration efforts and import permits in North America and assist in preparing submissions to various government agencies.
- Assign and track laboratory notebooks for KANA’s staff.
- Assist and work with KANA staff during audits and inspections by various customers, auditing bodies and regulatory agencies.
- Understand regulatory requirements and relevant government regulations for KANA products.
- Conduct regulatory research.
- Obtain and maintain production licenses (i.e. feed facility license and food processing license) in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
- Manage and coordinate state registrations for KANA products in compliance with various regulations.
Qualifications & Experience:- BA/BS degree or Associate’s Degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Intermediate computer skills – Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- The successful candidate will be reliable, self-motivated, and interact well in a team environment.
- Good writing skills to develop a broad range of documents, SOP’s and memoranda.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required.
- Must be able to handle multiple assignments concurrently and have the capacity to produce high quality results across multiple projects while working under pressure of short deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team player.
- Must be customer service-oriented and work well with varied personalities inside and outside of the corporation.
- Good interpersonal communication skills, with a minimum English Speaking Ability of Intermediate High as defined in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
Decision Making & Freedom to Act: The Regulatory Affairs Associate reports directly to the Regulatory Affairs Manager and is involved in ongoing administrative tasks in support of the RA team. Kemin believes in allowing its employees the freedom to make decisions and action them in accordance with their ability and level of reporting. Working Conditions: The Regulatory Affairs Associate is based at the Kemin AgriFoods North America headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa. The position is considered to be 40 hours per week, but requires some flexibility.
