Overall Function:

The Production Supervisor provides daily leadership for the manufacturing team.  This includes responsibility for the performance of all duties of the respective manufacturing processes.  The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring required manufacturing compliance (e.g. Safety, GMP, AIB, etc), making routine decisions regarding manufacturing, and for providing leadership and reinforcing practices to new and existing employees.  They will train employees and ensure that all employees follow required SOP’s of the facility and ensure proper use of manufacturing computer systems.

Major Responsibilities: 

• Meet production requirements for the area and motivate direct reports toward meeting production goals
• Monitor inventories to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing, interface with Extraction Operations Manager to handle any issues 
• Maintain required compliance standards
• Frequent computer usage
• Monitor equipment and ensure general maintenance; notifying Maintenance/Engineering of any equipment issues to work towards resolution
• Ensure all items produced meet quality standards defined within AIB/GMP standards in accordance with SOP’s
• Schedule of work schedules and coordinate all manufacturing processes
• Accountable for the development of employees within department
• Key member of the KFI Operations management group

Qualifications & Experience:

• Undergrad degree with up to 3 years of Production experience, or High school diploma (or equivalent) with 7-10 years of Production experience
• Excellent understanding of equipment in order to manage equipment and production needs
• Ability to read, write, handle basic math problems
• Solid computer skills
• Ability to lift 75 lbs., climb stairs, and repetitive motions including, but not limited to, bending and twisting
• Ideal candidate will have ability to lead others, and have a high level of accountability for their work
• Ability to operate equipment
• Ability to read and follow process flow charts and standard operating procedures
• Forklift experience desired
• Previous experience in a Production environment required
• Good attendance record
• Ability to direct, motivate and supervise others
• Minimum English proficiency level of Intermediate High as defined in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines

Working Conditions:

The Production Supervisor position is based at the KFI extraction plant in Des Moines, Iowa. This salaried position is considered to be 40 hours per week, night shift but requires tremendous flexibility.  This position will supervise night shifts and weekend work.  As an AIB certified company, proper personal protective equipment will be required to be worn due to food sanitation standards.  Uniforms are provided.
